The New Canon G9

The New Canon G9

Canon is about to extend its great range of digital cameras – evolving some of its most popular models with new features and improvements.

Post continues after sponsored links Thank you for your support.

First up, the Canon 40D digital SLR which is the successor to the popular 30D and ground breaking Canon 20D SLRs. Like most people I’m a big fan of the 20D, so this evolution is great news. The basic improvements include better body, more megapixels (10.1) and bigger viewfinder. The 40D also increases its sensitivity to 3200 ISO officially allowing you to take photos in super dark conditions (although it is worth noting that you could do this on the 20D but it’s hidden). Read more on the Canon 40D here, touted at $1,200 for the body only of $1,500 with lens.

If the Canon 40D isn’t powerful enough for you then check out the new EOS-1Ds Mark III Digital SLR. This beast continues Canon’s range of full frame digital SLR cameras with a jaw dropping 21 megapixels and full compatibility with Canon film SLR lenses. This is a super pro camera, and at $8,000 you’d better use it! Read more on the EOS-1Ds Mk III here.

Heading to a camera that can, just about, fit in your pocket we have the Canon G9 – a top of the range ‘point and shoot. The G9 evolves the Canon G7 which is a great camera with a good mix of professional control and point and shoot simplicity. Oh, and don’t go looking for the G8… Canon have jumped numbers again. Find out more on the Canon G9 here, and expect to see it in stores October for $500.
