LightRoom 2.0 – Beta Now Available

Posted by Matt on April 22nd, 2008 filed in Digital Photography Hints & Tips, News, Photo Workflow

Adobe have released a beta version of LightRoom 2.0 which you can download and try for free for 30 days, or if you already have LightRoom 1.x it will work until August ’08. There are a pile of great new features, including improved workflows and multiple monitor support, so once the initial bugs are ironed out it will surely be a ‘must have’ for most serious photographers.

Of course for those of us who might be about to buy Light Room, it’s time to hold off until Adobe work out a sensible upgrade price. As of now Adobe have stated that there will be an upgrade cost for 1.x users, but it hasn’t been fixed yet (Apple Aperture upgrade was $99). However if you’ve just bought it then this is no help – spending US$299 then soon afterwards another $? to upgrade, so hold on (or use a free trial for 30 days) until everything has settled down. Find out more about what’s happening here in the LightRoom 2.0 forums.
